Recently Hubbard Construction and Beyel Brothers, Inc. assembled and installed a new pedestrian bridge over US Highway 19 in Clearwater, Florida. “It is wonderful when we can build infrastructure to make areas safer for pedestrians and drivers,” said Mike Kanaday, VP of construction at Hubbard. The construction company’s scope of work for the project included erection of the pedestrian overpass structure as well as milling and resurfacing, drainage improvements, curbs and gutters, sidewalks, and utility improvements.
The skilled team from Hubbard Construction assembled the bridge by the side of US Highway 19, on Beyel Brothers’ high-capacity steel stools. The finished piece was 235 feet long and weighed 240,000 pounds. Beyel Brothers lifted the bridge, rotated it 180 degrees, and set it in place using a 750-ton capacity Demag AC 650 all-terrain crane.
“Our commitment to safety extends to our customers and their work,” Joe Beyel, president of Beyel Brothers, said. “We are honored to have been a part of executing this and many other infrastructure projects over the years.”
