We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing Agent to oversee our procurement process. The Purchasing Agent will be responsible for sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, and managing inventory to ensure timely delivery of goods and services while optimizing costs. This role requires strong analytical skills, negotiation abilities, and a keen understanding of supply chain management principles.
Responsibilities:
- Researching, evaluating, and selecting suppliers for cranes, trucks, marine barges, and tugboats. This involves identifying reliable vendors who can provide high-quality equipment and services at competitive prices. You’ll also be responsible for managing relationships with these suppliers, negotiating contracts, and ensuring compliance with contractual agreements.
- Developing procurement strategies and plans to ensure that the company has access to the necessary equipment and services to support its operations. This includes forecasting demand, assessing inventory levels, and coordinating with other departments to understand their procurement needs.
- Analyzing pricing data with suppliers to secure favorable terms and pricing. This may involve negotiating volume discounts, payment terms, and other provisions to optimize cost savings and efficiency.
- Manage inventory levels for cranes, trucks, marine barges, and tugboats to ensure that the company has an adequate supply of equipment to meet customer demand. This includes monitoring inventory levels, implementing inventory control measures, and coordinating with Service Director to ensure timely delivery of equipment when needed.
- Collaborate with various departments within the company including project managers to ensure that equipment and services are procured in a timely manner to support project timelines and deadlines. Effective communication and coordination are essential throughout the procurement process.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply chain management, or a related field is preferred but not required.
- Must have knowledge of heavy equipment and construction.
- Knowledge of marine barges and tugboats is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Purchasing Agent or in a similar procurement role.
- Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain effective relationships with suppliers.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work.
