We are looking for experienced Licensed and Non-Licensed Tugboat Engineers.
Primary duties include:
- Operate and monitor propulsion systems, including Cummins and Caterpillar main engines.
- Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, generators, hydraulic systems, and auxiliary machinery.
- Inspect and maintain propulsion components—cooling systems, fuel injectors, turbochargers, and exhaust systems.
- Monitor engine performance through gauges, alarms, and diagnostic tools; record operational data in engine room logs.
- Conduct oil, fuel, and coolant checks; perform oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication as scheduled.
- Oversee fuel transfers (bunkering) and ensure compliance with pollution prevention and safety standards.
- Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions to minimize downtime.
- Maintain auxiliary equipment such as generators, air compressors, bilge pumps, and steering systems.
- Ensure environmental compliance (MARPOL, oil record books, waste disposal procedures).
- Coordinate with captain and deck officers on power availability, propulsion performance, and maintenance scheduling.
- Keep the engine room clean, organized, and ready for inspection at all times.
- Maintain engineering logs for the vessel.
Requirements:
- MMC
- TWIC
- US Passport
- At least 2-5 years of experience as a tugboat engineer or similar.
