We are looking for experienced Licensed and Non-Licensed Tugboat Engineers.

Primary duties include:

  • Operate and monitor propulsion systems, including Cummins and Caterpillar main engines.
  • Perform routine maintenance and repairs on diesel engines, generators, hydraulic systems, and auxiliary machinery.
  • Inspect and maintain propulsion components—cooling systems, fuel injectors, turbochargers, and exhaust systems.
  • Monitor engine performance through gauges, alarms, and diagnostic tools; record operational data in engine room logs.
  • Conduct oil, fuel, and coolant checks; perform oil changes, filter replacements, and lubrication as scheduled.
  • Oversee fuel transfers (bunkering) and ensure compliance with pollution prevention and safety standards.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic malfunctions to minimize downtime.
  • Maintain auxiliary equipment such as generators, air compressors, bilge pumps, and steering systems.
  • Ensure environmental compliance (MARPOL, oil record books, waste disposal procedures).
  • Coordinate with captain and deck officers on power availability, propulsion performance, and maintenance scheduling.
  • Keep the engine room clean, organized, and ready for inspection at all times.
  • Maintain engineering logs for the vessel.

Requirements:

  • MMC
  • TWIC
  • US Passport
  • At least 2-5 years of experience as a tugboat engineer or similar.
